Patcham Infant School & Nursery Class
At Patcham Infant School and Nursery Class we believe that education should be exciting, fun, creative and accessible to all our children. We provide a broad, rich curriculum which is motivating and responsive to the children's interests and needs.
The learning atmosphere we create inspires the children with confidence to take risks within a calm, safe learning environment. The education we provide nurtures confident, caring, healthy and happy citizens of the future, who have respect for each other, the community, themselves and the environment.
Our school is a modern, bright and cheerful building, set out on three levels with a seperate nursery class. The school accommodation is set in a beautiful green environment that adds to the school's character. We have two playgrounds, which incorporate many activities for the children to use at playtimes. Nursery benfits from its dedicated outside spaces as well has having access to the school grounds. The school building comprises of 9 individual classrooms and a separate nursery building. We also have a large hall, library area, offices, accessible toilet, cloakrooms and kitchen. We have fully working stair lifts and disabled access to all entrances. The school is planned so that each pair of classes has access to a quiet room and a practical area. Children benefit from Forest School throughout the course of the year.
We have 3 classes per Year group from Reception to Year 2. Each can take up to 30 children. The children are grouped on a mixed ability basis in their academic year groups. At the end of Year One the children will be mixed with children from parallel classes to move on to the next year group.
Nursery has up to 25 children. Option1 attend on Monday and Tuesday all day and Wednesday mornings. Option 2 attend on Wednesday afternoon, Thursday and Friday all day. Option 3 attend all week (30 hours for eligible families).
Every class has the benefit of a learning support assistant to help the teacher. Nursery children benefit from a Nursery Nurse and learning support assistant to help the teacher.
Children are admitted to our Reception classes in September after they have turned 4 years old.
All children can now be admitted to school full time from when they start in September.
